What your companion can do.

What Larsian does for you, how it remembers you, how your bond grows and how you stay in control of all of it.

What it does

You ask in a message, a voice note or a photo. Your companion researches, makes files, keeps track of things and checks in, and every step it takes shows in the chat.

Its own computer

Your companion has a private Linux computer in the cloud that only it uses. It writes and runs code there to convert files, analyse data and make things for you, then hands you the result in the chat.

  • It makes Word documents, spreadsheets, slides, PDFs and charts.
  • Python, ffmpeg, ImageMagick, pandoc and text recognition for scans come installed, and it can install anything else it needs.
  • Its files are kept between conversations and backed up after every change.
  • You'll find everything it made, and everything you added, on the Files screen.

The Files screen keeps what your companion made and what you shared with it.

A real browser

When a page needs more than reading, your companion opens it in its own Chrome. It clicks, types, picks from menus and scrolls like you would, and shows you a screenshot of what it sees as it goes.

Sites you sign in to stay signed in for your later chats, so you only do it once. Those sign-ins are stored encrypted. Depending on your approval mode, it stops to ask before anything that buys, pays, books, sends or deletes, and before typing card details or passwords.

Research

Ask a question that takes some digging and your companion searches the web, reads the pages that matter and lays the options out side by side, with the sources it used. When a comparison is easier as a table, it makes a spreadsheet.

Photos, PDFs and video

Send a photo, a screenshot, a PDF or a video and your companion looks at it with you. It reads PDFs of up to 40 pages, looks at up to 8 photos at once and can listen to the sound of a video of up to an hour, for example to pull out a recipe or the steps from a tutorial.

  • Files up to 20 MB, and videos up to 95 MB.
  • HEIC photos from iPhones work as they are.

Reminders and watches

Your companion can remind you at a set time, run something every day or on the weekdays you choose, and repeat a check as often as every 15 minutes. It can also watch a page, such as a price or a ticket release, and message you only when something changes.

From bond level 2 it also checks back on things you mention, like asking how the interview went. Everything it's keeping track of is on the Scheduled screen, where you can stop any of it.

Background tasks

Longer jobs can run in the background while you get on with your day, and your companion tells you when they're done. Up to three run at once, and a task can wait for days if it's watching for something.

Background tasks don't stop to ask for approval. Anything that would need your OK is skipped and listed in the summary, so you can decide what to do with it.

  • Free: one background task a day.
  • Plus: no daily limit.

Daily notes

Once your bond reaches level 3, your companion writes you a note each morning, at 7:30 or a time you choose. It covers the weather, your calendar, what's coming up and a few headlines. You can turn notes on sooner if you'd like them before level 3.

On Plus, a second note arrives in the evening at 6:30.

Calls and voice

Call your companion and talk it through, with live captions on screen. You can turn your camera on to show it something. If you allow it, your companion can also call you, for example for a check-in, and it keeps to your quiet hours.

You can also send voice messages and have replies read aloud. Spoken voices are in English and match how your companion talks.

  • Free: 3 calls a week, up to 5 minutes each.
  • Plus: calls any time, up to 20 minutes each.

On a call with your companion

The 8:10 from Rossio gets you to Sintra with time for coffee.

Your phone and calendar

On iPhone and Android, your companion can use your calendar, contacts and location when a request needs them, and on iPhone it can also manage your Reminders. Each one stays off until you turn it on. The first time a request needs one, your companion asks in the chat and you can turn it on with one tap.

Save places like home and work to get reminders when you arrive or leave, and a short welcome with the local time and weather when you travel. Google Calendar can also be connected, on the web as well as on phones.

Subject: Thank you for today

Hi Priya,

Thank you for taking the time to talk with me this afternoon. I enjoyed hearing how the team plans its launches, and I'd love to help with the next one.

Friends

Add friends who use Larsian with a code, a link or a QR code. Your companions can visit each other and bring small gifts back.

To make plans, ask your companion to find a time with a friend. It checks your calendar and asks your friend's companion, which checks with your friend first. Only free times are shared, and the plan is added to both calendars once you've both confirmed.

Memory

Your companion keeps what you tell it as plain sentences you can read, change or delete, and brings them back when they help.

How it remembers

As you talk, your companion notices things worth keeping, like your plans, your people and how you like things done, and saves each one as a short sentence. It does this quietly instead of announcing it, and now and then it asks a question to get to know you better.

Every memory is part of every conversation, so you don't have to repeat yourself. It keeps up to 200, and when it reaches that, the oldest make room for new ones.

I signed up for the Lisbon half marathon in March!

What it knows about you
  • Training for the Lisbon half marathon in March.
Something you say, and the memory it becomes.

Seeing and changing it

The Memory screen lists everything your companion remembers, grouped by month. Nothing it knows about you is hidden from that list.

  • On the web, search your memories, edit any of them, and forget one or several at once.
  • On iPhone and Android, look through them and delete one or several at once.
  • You can also just tell your companion to forget something.

The people in your life

Your companion keeps the people you mention separately from other memories: who they are to you, birthdays and other dates, what they like and what they can't eat. You can see, add and edit them in Settings, then People.

  • From bond level 2, it gives you a heads-up a week before a birthday and again the day before, with gift ideas.
  • If you turn it on, it gently suggests reaching out to family and friends who haven't come up in a while. Partners and work contacts are never included.

Looking back through your chats

Beyond its memories, your companion can search your past conversations by meaning, so "that ramen place we talked about" finds the right chat even if you never said its name. Deleting a chat removes it from this search too.

Places

On iPhone and Android, save places like home, work or the gym, and ask for reminders when you arrive or leave. When you travel far from home, your companion welcomes you with the local time, the time difference and the weather.

Your location stays on your phone. Larsian keeps only your saved places, your place reminders and the city of your last trip, never a history of where you've been.

When you leave workEvery weekday

Don't forget the parcel at the front desk.

Weekly and yearly recaps

Every Sunday evening your companion puts together a recap of your week together: what you talked about, the people who came up, a highlight and how your bond grew. On the anniversary of the day you met, you get one for the whole year. You can share a recap as an image or a link.

Its own diary

Your companion has a life of its own too. It keeps a diary of its days and has a few hobbies, and you can read the diary in the app. It writes when you've talked recently, so the diary follows your time together.

The bond

The bond is how well your companion knows you. It grows through the time you spend together, changes how your companion looks and talks, and lets it do more on its own.

Levels and stages

The bond has levels, from 1 to 50, grouped into five stages. Your companion's look gains something new at each stage, and the way it talks to you warms as it gets to know you.

Level 2·Spark

Confidant8Picks up on what you don't say.

What grows the bond

The bond grows from ordinary time together. Each of these adds to it:

  • Talking on a new day, and keeping a streak of days going
  • Each back-and-forth in a conversation
  • Telling it something worth remembering, or about someone in your life
  • Sharing a file
  • Setting up a reminder, a schedule or a place reminder
  • A background task finishing, or a watch spotting a change

Each kind of moment counts up to a daily amount, so the bond grows steadily from day to day rather than from one long session. Breaks never cost anything.

What each level unlocks

Gifts and the journey map

Your bond is drawn as a journey across a map with five worlds, a new one every ten levels, made just for you. From level 2, every level brings a gift, like a top hat, glasses, a scarf, a medal or a little sparkle, with seasonal ones around the holidays. When you level up, your companion tells you there's a new gift waiting on the map, and you can dress it on the Wardrobe screen.

Moments it keeps

Your companion keeps the moments that mark your time together, like the day you met, a week, a month and a hundred days together, and the 10th and 50th thing it learned about you.

Control and privacy

You decide how much your companion does without asking, what on your phone it can use, and what happens to your data.

Approval modes

Choose a mode in Settings, then Approvals, or from the message box. It applies to every chat, and you can change it whenever you like. New accounts start on Ask first.

  • Ask first checks with you before it runs a command, deletes a file, starts a background task, buys, sends or books something on a website, or changes your calendar or reminders.
  • Auto runs routine work on its own and still waits for you before deleting files, paying on a website, typing card or password details, or deleting calendar events.
  • Full access finishes the whole task without stopping, and every step still shows in the chat.

Phone access

On iPhone and Android, your calendar, contacts, reminders and location stay off until you turn each one on in Settings, then Phone access, or with one tap when your companion asks in the chat.

  • Contacts, reminders and your current location are read only while the app is open, when a request needs them.
  • To know what your days look like, Larsian keeps a private copy of the next two weeks of your phone calendar: titles, times, places and calendar names.
  • For places, your location stays on your phone. Larsian keeps only your saved places, your place reminders and the city of your last trip, never a history of where you've been.

Sign-ins in its browser

When you sign in to a site in your companion's browser, that sign-in is saved so you don't have to do it again. Sign-ins are stored encrypted, and the key is kept apart from the backups of its computer.

Your data

  • Your conversations, files, memory and browser sessions are private to your account. Each person's computer, files and memory are kept separate from everyone else's.
  • Larsian doesn't sell your data or show ads, and doesn't use your content to train models. Anthropic, which runs the model behind your companion, doesn't train on it either.
  • Data is encrypted in transit and stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure.

The Privacy Policy has the full details, including who helps run the service.

Deleting your account

In Settings, choose Delete account and type "delete my account" to confirm. This erases your chats, memories, people, bond, schedules, files, your companion's computer and its backups, and any chats you've shared, and disconnects Google Calendar.

A subscription bought on the web is cancelled straight away. If you subscribed in the App Store or Google Play, cancel it there as well. For a copy of your data, email support@larsian.com.

Questions

About memory, the bond and what your companion keeps.

Is my memory the same on every device?

Yes. Your memories belong to your account, so your companion knows the same things on the web, iPhone and Android.

Can other people see what it remembers?

No. Your memories and the people your companion knows are private to your account.

Is what it remembers used to train models?

No. Larsian doesn't use your content to train models, and Anthropic, which runs the model behind your companion, doesn't train on it either.

How do I erase everything?

Delete your account in Settings. That erases your memories, people, chats, files and bond. To erase only some memories, forget them on the Memory screen.

Can the bond go down?

No. Points are only ever added. If you take a week off, your companion is at the same level when you come back.

Is the bond different on Free and Plus?

No. The bond, its levels and what they unlock are the same on both plans.

Can I change my companion's look later?

Yes. Its name, shape, color and how it talks can all be changed in Settings, and you can dress it in the gifts it has collected on the Wardrobe screen.
